Onam festival is celebrated to mark the season of harvesting in the state of Kerala in India. It falls in the months of August – September, the core, monsoon months. According to the Malyalam calendar it is called Chingam.

 
 
 
 
 

The festival is celebrated for 10 days that reflects the culture and tradition of Kerala in many ways. Some things that are mandatorily the part of this festival are intricate flower carpets, banquet lunch, Vallamkali – the snake boat race, Kaikottukali dance.
